NAPLAN testing is occurring very shortly!
Teachers in years 3 and 5 have worked with our students to familiarise them with the testing format and knowing what to expect when completing NAPLAN.
What you need to know: There are some very strict rules and procedures every school has to follow around the administration of these tests, from what classroom set ups need to look like, what teachers can and can’t say, and how to support students.
All students in years 3, 5, 7 and 9 are expected to sit the NAPLAN tests, however, there are some instances where students may be exempted from one or more of the NAPLAN tests or withdrawn from the tests. Exemptions may be granted for students with a language background other than English or for students with a disability.
Students may be withdrawn from the testing program by their parent/carer if there are religious beliefs or philosophical objections to testing. This is a matter for consideration by individual parents/carers in consultation with their child’s school.
Some students are eligible to receive an extra 5 minutes per assessment session.
Students may also complete the tests in a space other than their usual classroom, such as the LRC or EALD room with Miss Keane or Mrs Gameren.
The NAPLAN website is the best place to go for further information about NAPLAN.
If you have any questions about NAPLAN, please do not hesitate to contact your classroom teacher, or myself (Alison Frazer, Head of Curriculum ) in the Library.
