On Friday 30 August we said goodbye to our 21 visiting Japanese students from Ritsumeikan Uji Junior High school after having them at our school for the past fortnight. Some families also had the pleasure of playing host to them in our own homes.
Our Japanese students were ever so keen to immerse themselves into our language and fantastic school culture. The students thoroughly enjoyed spending Monday afternoons in their RHSS buddy’s class making peace posters and slide shows on the iPad. Furthermore, they entertained the preps, had a reading lesson with Year 1s, painted boomerangs and made lamingtons with Year 6 students, had chopstick races and took part in a furoshiki demonstration. Who’d of thought that Year 7 boys would have enjoyed making a bag! And who could forget the ‘camp’ games with Mrs Shelley, where by some of our visiting male students just couldn’t stop dancing!

We look forward to hosting students from Ritsumeikan Uji Junior High school next year.
