Swimming Carnival

​Next Friday 6 December is our annual swimming carnival, being held at Sunnybank Swim Club (Our Lady of Lourdes School Pool)
Year 3 and 4    9:00 – 11:00am
Year 5 and 6    11:15 – 1:30pm
Remember, students attending may wear their house colour and togs to school.  As they did for swimming lessons, students may also wear thongs to get on the bus. 
Students DO NOT have to swim in any 50 or 25m races, but can participate in the free swim at the end of the carnival.  Points for age champion are given to students swimming in 50m races only. Times will be recorded for 50m races only.  Students swimming in any 50m races will swim against other students born in the same year.  Students who qualify for the Sunnybank District Swimming Carnival will be notified early in 2020. The district carnival is being held on Wednesday 12 February, at Yeronga Swimming Pool.
Order of Events: Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly (50m followed by 25m races).
Students swimming in 50m races MUST have submitted a signed nomination form to me.
What to Bring – all items must be NAMED!
  • Swimming togs (girls one piece only – togs should be worn under coloured house shirt prior to departure for the pool)
  • Swimming cap (recommended for races)
  • Goggles
  • Towel
  • Swimming bag for wet things
  • Thongs to wear to and from the pool
  • Sunscreen and Hat
  • Captains and Year 4 Students born in 2009 (who are swimming 50m races) may bring lunch/water for the day.
An afternoon assembly (at approximately 2:00pm) will be held back at school for all students in year 3 - year 6.  Mr Nielsen will announce the winning house and present the Age Champions with medallions. Parents are welcome to attend.
