The members of the Runcorn Heights State School Parents and Citizens Association comprise of an active and interested group of persons who:
sign off the school budget,
assist in the improvements to the environment of the school through decisions made in consultation with community members, school principal and staff and Education Queensland,
fundraise to provide extra resources and equipment for the school.
The P&C Association membership is open to all members of the community.
General business meetings are held by the P&C on the third Wednesday of each month. (alternate dates are found if this falls on a school holiday date). To be able to vote, parents must complete a Form.
Volunteering
“Research shows that children perform better at school when their parents are involved in their education.” There are many benefits of joining the school’s P&C.
We are all busy people with many commitments and the P&C understand that everyone has varying amounts of time available to assist. The more people that help out, the less work for everyone and the more we can accomplish. Any help is appreciated and there are many ways to help out with different levels of commitment. Some ways to help out include:
join the P&C so that you can have a voice in what is happening at the school
attend P&C meetings
help out in the classroom, eg. change readers
participate in fundraising events, eg come to the discos, sponsor your child in the Activathon
participate in working bees
offer any special skills you may have, eg. grant writing
if you work for an appropriate business, consider approaching them for donations - it may be something as simple as small trinkets (water bottles, hats, etc) for rewards for children participating in fundraising events, to large items that can be raffled off. We will mention your business in the newsletter to thank them.
