The staff and students survived some very hot days out in the bush and were extremely grateful for the opportunity to swim in the dams to cool down each day (even if the bottom was muddy and squishy!)
Students participated in a number of leadership and team building activities based on the character values of courage, mateship, sacrifice and perseverance. Based on historical events and theatres of conflict including WW1, WW2 and Vietnam, the core activities include the Western Front, Siege of Tobruk, Bridge over the River Kwai, Tunnel Rats of Vietnam, Hellfire Pass, The Kokoda Track and the Night Walk.
I joined the students yesterday and witnessed the students extending themselves outside their comfort zones and exhibiting leadership, communication and teamwork skills that we can all be proud of. These activities delivered some extremely rewarding outcomes for our students.
A very special thank you to the staff who made the camp possible – Ms Megueria, Ms Moore, Ms Lealasola, Mr Pearce and our chaplain, Marion. It is a very big personal commitment and I know the Leadership team, parents and students appreciate your efforts.
